Social Innovation Bar

Organised by Social Entrepreneurship BW and supported by SAP, the Social Innovation Bar takes place for the sixth time. Social entrepreneurs, visionaries and changemakers are welcome to present and discuss their projects in a cordial atmosphere at the "Alte Feuerwache" in Mannheim.
Startup Mentoring Program HEMA

Seven start-up businesses from Hebron participate in the mentoring program HEMA to gather insights into the local start-up scene of Mannheim. They also get a chance to present their projects to potential investors.
Hometownglory
Date: 14. — 26. Oktober
Venue: Q 6 Q 7 Mannheim – Das Quartier
The shopping mall Q 6 Q 7 emanates concentrated creativity when numerous local brands are being showcased in the Hometownglory pop-up store. The shop also functions as a central meeting place during the festival.
Innovations made in Mannheim

Did you know that the automobile was invented in Mannheim? The city has brought forth many other (perhaps lesser known) innovations. You can discover some of them in an outdoor installation in downtown Mannheim.
UNCOVER Designpreis 2018 / 2020

Venue: C-HUB
As a prelude to the call for submissions for the UNCOVER Design Award 2020, the organisers present a retrospective of the nominees and winners of 2016 and 2018. All exhibits are assigned to the United Nations' sustainable development goals. The UNCOVER 2020 Design Award includes prize money of 20,000 € and will be awarded in five categories. The award ceremony will take place in October 2020.
Nachtschicht
Date: October 16, 2019
Venue: Altes Volksbad
"Donate your skills to charity" is the motto of the first NACHTSCHICHT (night shift) at the "Altes Volksbad" in Mannheim. During an 8-hour night shift, businesses donate their know-how to non-profit organisations.
UX-DAY
Date: October 16 — 18, 2019
Venue: C-HUB, Alte Feuerwache, Spiegel Institut Mannheim
The UX-DAY draws experts from all over Europe to Mannheim. The three-day event consists of UX-DAY KONFERENZ (a conference), UX-DAY MASTERCLASS (in-depth workshop classes), and two UX-DAY SPECIALS. The UX-DAY is organised by Mannheim-based digital agency "kuehlhaus AG" and the association "Usability in Germany".
Digital Changemakers Summit

The chair of corporate social responsibility of the University of Mannheim is responsible for the third Digital Changemakers Summit. For two days, students (with the help of experts) conceptualize digital solutions to environmental and social problems.

"Next Entrepreneurs: Schüler*innen verändern ihre Stadt" (pupils change their city) is a workshop for children to hone their entrepreneurial thinking skills, develop business ideas, and work on solutions to current municipal issues.
Schule zerstört Innovation

How can pupils preserve their creativity in the face of school routine? The workshop "Schule zerstört Innovation" (school destroys innovation) tries to answer this question. The workshop is meant for children aged 12 and older as well as for people working in education.

What meaning does the night have in our society? What are recent developments and challenges in modern club culture? How significant is the current global night mayor movement? These and other questions will be adressed at the first international night culture conference.

The Urban Thinkers Campus (UTC) is an open space for citizens and "urban stakeholders" to exchange ideas. The goal of UTC 2019 is to develop methods that enable the realisation of the “Leitbild 2030” mission statement expressed by the city of Mannheim.
Climathon

The Climathon focusses on fighting climate change and promoting innovation. In this 40-hour hackathon, participants have to develop digital solutions that can help fight climate change. The best contributions will be awarded.
Nachtwandel im Jungbusch

Venue: Mannheim-Jungbusch
"Nachtwandel im Jungbusch"(which roughly translates to "sleepwalking in Jungbusch") is a great cultural spectacle. People from various cultural and social backgrounds contribute to the project. The result is an intercultural and colourful street festival.
